  1. Download Button Template and create a sheet of buttons. Once you have passed them off, you can create your own button. (in class)

  1. Today, you will need to create a one page print advertisement. You may use PowerPoint or Microsoft Word (or any other software program of your choice if working on this at home). You should create it in color, but at school, you are currently unable to print in color so you can print it in black and white and turn it in to the basket.

Your ad needs the following to catch the customer's attention and keep their interest:
  • pictures,
  • a title
  • a variety of fonts and/or font sizes
  • Contact information so your customers can get more information (such as address, phone #, web site, etc.)
  • Invitation - What do you want your customers to do after they read your ad!

The product you advertise is up to you as long as it is school appropriate. It can be an existing or invented product. The ad should fill the page.

February 19, 20 - Computer Basics

February 13-18, 23 (B-Day) - Introduction to Stock Market Game (Personal FInance)

  • Here is a stock screener where you can look for companies to invest in. They should cost at least $5 and you can also screen for a beta of 2 or more if you want (see below).
  • Look up stocks on either Yahoo Finance (finance.yahoo.com) or Google Finance.
  • Beta Value = Volatility ... Number higher than 2 = volatile stock. Number lower than 1 = slow moving stock. 1 = normal volatility (half of stocks are more volatile and half of stocks are less volatile).
  • Stochastic Chart - lookup stochastic charts here: Stochastic Charts
    • Fast Stochastic # higher than 80% (above red line) = Stocks are overbought (not a good time to buy).
    • Fast Stochastic # lower than 20% (below bottom red line) = Stocks are oversold (good time to buy!!!)
  • Stocks must cost at least $3.
